Russia's ice hockey federation says the country's exclusion from this year's World Champions is not beneficial for the sport

  The International Ice Hockey Federation last year suspended all national teams and clubs from Russia and Belarus due to the military conflict with Ukraine. The IIHF has now extended that ban for the 2023-24 season, saying "it is not yet safe to reincorporate" the teams. The World Championships take place in Finland and Latvia from 12-28 May. 38th Running of the Los Angels Marathon presented by ASICS

  Los Angeles, CA- The 38th running of the   Los Angeles Marathon presented by ASICS   takes off out of Dodger Stadium tomorrow morning at 6:29 a.m. with the pro wheelchair division, followed by 22,000 marathoners toeing the line.  In the professional foot race, new champions will be crowned as 2022 winners  John Korir  and  Delvine   Meringor  of Kenya will be racing elsewhere this spring.  For the second year, the  Morgan & Morgan Marathon Chase  will be in play, the unique race within a race format pitting the pro men against the pro women in a handicap competition where the women are given a head start and the question will be whether the lead man can run down the top woman for the big prize.  The race within the race gender matchup was first instituted back in 2004 and run for 11 consecutive years before the 2015 USATF Marathon Championship the 2016 Olympic Trials were contested in LA, sidelining the Chase....

Shepperton Swimming Club ready for new season

  More than 80 swimmers from a dozen clubs from across Victoria will descend on Aquamoves for the indoor 25m pool competition on Sunday, March 26, the first short-course meet of the season. Short-course indoor swimming has the same events and distances as standard outdoor long-course events, with the competitions held indoors during the winter months. “The kids are actually quicker with their times in a 25m pool.” Racing will start at 11am on Sunday. People looking to get into competitive swimming will have the chance to dip into the action as well, with the club also hosting a come-and-try session on Sunday morning. “It is for any kids who want to come and try racing and see what the club is about,” Shaw said. “It is a good opportunity for them to check it out and to see if they want to take up swimming as the sport for them. “Come down, bring as many people as you can and give it a try.   A grudge match with title implications takes place on March 25 at the MGM Grand Garden  Arena in Las Vegas. Former world champions David Benavidez and Caleb Plant face off for bragging rights and the chance to punch swap with super middleweight king Canelo Alvarez.  Plant (22-1, 13 KOs) won the IBF super middleweight title in 2019 and defended it three times. After losing the belt to Canelo in November 2021, he returned in grand fashion in October, knocking out Anthony Dirrell with a violent blow to the face in Round 9. 1 second of 17 seconds Vo Plant added Stephen “Breadman” Edwards as his trainer for the Dirrell fight. Former Scotland captain Kyle Coetzer announces retirement

  Kyle Coetzer, the former Scotland captain who led his side to famous victories over No. 1-ranked England in 2018 and into the Super 12 stage of the 2021 T20 World Cup, has announced his retirement from international cricket at the age of 38. Coetzer, who was born and raised in Aberdeen, had stepped down from the captaincy in May 2022 at the end of Scotland's ODI tour of the USA and also retired from T20Is, but he has now called time in all formats to take up a role as assistant coach with Northern Diamonds in the Women's Hundred. "I don't ever think there's a perfect time for a decision like this, but I've been considering my options for some time, and an opportunity came up which was too good to turn down," Coetzer said in a retirement announcement through Cricket Scotland. Netball World Cup 2023 is on schedule

  The 2023 Netball World Cup is on schedule and planning for the sport's showcase event is moving towards a positive conclusion.  25 member squad within NSA will be taught a new system that will be used for the first time at the Netball World Cup. Several contracted Spar Proteas will also participate in the tournament, which Malokwane believes will be the perfect opportunity for national coach Dorette Badenhorst to gauge the form and fitness of her core group.
